The End of Civilization as We Know It

And so it comes to this. We’re in the midst of a heated presidential contest, an energy crisis looms, the economy is on the skids, and I come before you today to once again write about… Paris Hilton. The celebrity – whose fame, as near as I can tell, resulted entirely from the circumstances of her mother having intercourse with William Baron Hilton’s boy – has responded to John McCain’s use of her image in his recent “celebrity” advertisement.

See more Paris Hilton videos at Funny or Die.

Aside from thanking the “wrinkly white haired dude” for his endorsement, I must now hold my hands folded in front of me, stare at the ground and shuffle my feet back and forth uncomfortably as I admit…

… Paris Hilton may have a better energy policy than either of the candidates.

Good luck with the blog, guys. I’m off to consider slitting my wrists.

Actually I made the same comment yesterday when I saw this video.

Her's is the only bipartisan response I have heard to this in a long time. It actually offered compromise.

Something both parties seem reluctant to do even though Barak Obama continues to want you believe that he can help the Dems and the Repubs to become bipartisan buddies IF ONLY he is in charge.

His first test so far has been a failure as the Democratic hacks we call Senators and Representatives laugh at him and tell him what they WILL don and what they wont.

    Prove it.

Do you see a bipartisan congress working to resolve their difference with the encouragement of Barak Obama? All I see is a bunch of hot air floating around and now suddenly Barak Obama is attacking John McCain for being in bed with big oil.

Theres your proof.........simply.....nothing is getting done.........theres your proof. Obama says I will get things done......hah

Barak Obama's 3 years of national experience is showing thru. He has hired a bunch of nitwits to run his campaign and he is now taking his orders from the DNC and Nanny Pelosi rather then issuing orders for the party.

Neocon, when Obama jumps in AirForceOne to pigeonhole the next Terry Schiavo or theDemonocrats change the filibuster rules to allow a vote on Billary for SCOTUS, then you have a point. Maybe we need to give the Demonocrats atleast two years to see what they can do, just like the Republicans had six years of majority rule after 2000.

And where's John McCain? He hasn't even been in the Senate for 3 months. He's missed Every Single Energy Vote.

    OMG!!

    Don't slit your wrists!

Maybe a write-in for Paris would be the perfect protest vote?

    Probably not.
  • Jim_Satterfield
Nothing's getting done? Hmmmm. Couldn't have anything to do with the Republicans being able to block anything and everything in the Senate because of the slim Democratic majority, could it? Why yes, I do believe that it could.

everyone knows Paris is Bi , partisan that is. Actually she's probably giddy that this has put her back in the limelight.

McCain's been too busy at the titty-bar b q's in Sturgis.
Mmm the smell of silicone and hot air and cold beer....

Paris is right except that we shouldn't reward BigOil with a drop of offshore oil, they should use their current leases to bridge us over.

Why worry that a woman, even a sex-object woman, has better ideas than two fumbling men? It wouldn't be the first time. And it won't be the last.

If you're going to slit your wrists about a woman's innate, intuitive and workable solutions to tough problems, you've got a lot of slitting to do.. women multi-task like no other and are very industrious, especially in tricky situations that need a lot of finesse. Men are linear thinkers and deal better with head-on confrontations with just one subject at a time.

Let's just say our "situation" as a nation is a multi-dimensional one whose components all need attention at once.....and soon. Paris would probably do a better job than either Obama or McCain.

Good for Paris! And yes, the word "bitches" does apply to her "opponents"...lol...LOL!....

Obama the celebrity now has another celebrity helping his campaign, and the childish among the electorate (already having decided to vote for Obama long ago) are probably giggling and gloating about how this "taught" McCain some kind of "lesson."

Celebrity, celebrity, celebrity. Give it up. McCain is a celebrity (SNL, Daily Show, books about him, movies about him, opening for Kid Rock at a biker rally). Reagan was a celebrity. Why don't you find something of substance to talk about?
  • SteveK
Everyone should quit picking on DLS, he's nothing if not partisan.

    "McCain is a celebrity"

No comparison whatsoever. This "reposte" of yours and others always has failed.

Why don't *** YOU *** post something of substance rather than griping when you're wrong?

Here's more from the real world, as opposed to lib-Dems who project their faults on others.

Chew on it and stew on it. Learn something.

The IMDB does not lie: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0564587/

McCain's entire political career is built on his POW storyline and Maverick persona. There's no substance there.

I have a novel idea....instead of bickering back and forth, let's all write our congressmen/women and senators, and demand that they do something! anything! but they've ALL done nothing for 40 years....and we can't afford to wait any longer.

I think Paris/T. Boone Pickens is right, do it all, drill OCS, ANWR, invest in wind power, nuclear and solar, while investing in real-reseach into alternatives for instance hydrogen fuel cells, hybrid technology, and apply carbon-fiber technology to drastically lighten/strengthen vehicles (a Tahoe would weigh 1700 lbs & only need a 4 cyl to power it)....just some ideas that I've seen out there.

If we all speak with one voice, pehaps we can goad our elected idiots into action.

There is more substance to McCain and the current GOP (which is as dysfunctional as can be) than there is to anything you have said today, Chris. Obama blew it lately with his energy stances (which repel Americans and are as I have characterized them) and even if it's currently beyond your grasp, Obama will probably engage in successful damage control and restoration of his campaign's "momentum" before your illogical temper tantrums and related illogical and oft-inappropriate behavior has subsided.

That is, unless Obama makes more silly left-Dem mistakes along the same McGovern-Carter path (advocating the allocation and controlled distribution of heating oil this winter in the Northeast, say, or the control over refineries and distribution of gasoline as well as natural gas this winter in addition to heating oil, or making more, louder demands for windfall profits taxes, or demanding more loudly the release of oil from the Strategic Reserve, the "quick fix" that makes a hypocrite of his "addicted to oil" scolding, or the wearing of warm clothing this winter, or other Conservation is THE Answer nonsense, etc.) and Americans again are repelled and take a second look again at otherwise-doomed McCain.

I loved the Paris ad! She's right on with the energy policy. Maybe either Obama or McCain can have her as VP. :)

After all there's absolutely no dirt to dig up on her---- we've seen it all already.

If the GOP were going to run attack ads against her showing her own clips, those ads would have to be rated X. COme to think about it a lot of the attack ads McCain is putting out these days aren't suitable for anyone. So at least ads attacking Hilton that are for adults only would be an improvement. :)
