A desperate GOP (as well as those with interests in oil and in China, as M pointed out in a different thread) will "draft" Jeb Bush in 2012. And don't overlook a chance for two brothers to hold the Pres and VP spots, or to have Jeb select an interesting choice for Treasury Secretary: Neil Bush.
It's enough to make me less critical of Superdestroyer's prediction of utter doom for the GOP.

There's a lot to dislike George Bush for. The invasion and occupation of Iraq; the destruction of the Constution; his lackadaisical response to national emergencies; his politicization of the justice department; his abandonment of Habeas Corpus. I could go on and on - the point is that he's hated for lots of reasons.
But for me, my personal biggest gripe with Bush has been how he turned the national annual debt surplus when he took office into an immediate national deficit. Now we're knocking on the door of a ten trillion dollar cumulative national debt, which I fear will take an entire generation to fully reverse. I fear for the future.
