RELIGIOUS FREEDOM LAW: Gov. Mike Pence said that Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act isn’t meant to encourage discrimination. Well, it does. A Walkertown pizzeria said it will discriminate against gays on the basis of this law.
Memories Pizza owner Crystal O’Connor told local ABC News affiliate, “If a gay couple came in and wanted us to provide pizzas for their wedding, we would have to say no.” “We are a Christian establishment. Though they are welcome to patronize the establishment for non-matrimonial events.
“I don’t think it’s discrimination,” O’Connor says. “It’s supposed to help people that have a religious belief.”
It will be interesting to see how Gov. Pence proposes to fix this law since he clearly stated he doesn’t think it will lead to discrimination. Memories Pizza is saying otherwise.
