[video] Ohio primary voter interview: 95-year-old is counting on John McCain »
As I posted yesterday, I put up a couple of Clinton signs at a major intersection. When I returned to the intersection today to hold up a Clinton sign during the lunch rush, my signs were gone. It is windy but I don’t think that both signs “just blew away.” Since I did not see who took my signs, I cannot prove that the Obama campaign is responsible. Reportedly, sign-stealing is occurring elsewhere as well. Obama signs are in no danger from me, but I’m sorry to see that Sen. Obama’s fans stoop so low.
Here you are, heavily implying (if not outright accusing) Obama's supporters of stealing signs. And you claim that Obama supporters are nasty to Clinton supporters. Pot, meet kettle.
Consider my vote changed to Hillary
Sigh.
Sign wars are nothing new. Yes, it's playing dirty, but hardly the first time.
It can even be turned around on the aggressor. When I lived in Seattle, someone had posted one year a campaign sign for Maria Cantwell. Someone came by and removed the “-well”: “MARIA CANT”. So what did a supporter do? You guessed it. Removed the “T”: “MARIA CAN”.
And Maria Did. Cantwell won the election that year.
I think the operative part is “I can't prove it was Obama supporters” it seems awfully thin. Plus, I hear the weather is pretty bad out there today and couldn't it have just been someone who doesn't like Hiliary who isn't affiliated with the Obama campaign? You have to admit, there are a lot of people out there who don't like her and they don't all work for Obama.
I don't know what the rules are for campaign signs where you live, but based on the picture you put up, that sign would have been impounded by the city I live in.
Going on what Kathyn said, it also could have been the wind/weather. Perhaps the signs were knocked over into the street and damaged, and then someone simply picked them up and threw them away.
From The Politico:
The Dallas Morning News gets hold of Clinton caucus “training materials,” in which supporters are instructed to fight for procedural control of caucuses.
The materials say in part, “DO NOT allow the supporter of another candidate to serve in leadership roles.”
It goes on to say, “If our supporters are outnumbered, ask the Temporary Chair if one of our supporters can serve as the Secretary, in the interest of fairness.
“The control of the sign-in sheets and the announcement of the delegates allotted to each candidate are the critical functions of the Chair and Secretary. This is why it is so important that Hillary supporters hold these positions.”
Some of the moments on the ground in Nevada showed how crucial technical control can be, particularly when — there, as expected in Texas — nobody has any idea what the rules are. Really makes you love the caucus process.
Sign stealing? C'mon Holly In Cincinnati! BOO-FRIGGIN'-HOO!
You have no proof. Granted, this is a heated contest that has many Democrats pitted against each other in a ferocious battle for World Domination… okay, maybe that's overstating it a little bit.
Look, I wouldn't put it past a rabid Bush/Cheney supporter to stop and grab one of those signs to use in some right-wing ritual involving Rick Santorum chanting “man-on-dog, man-on-dog” and “MC Rove” gettin' jiggy to it. But I have no proof of that theory either.
I would also note that IF the culprits are indeed Obama SUPPORTERS, you can bet your sweet vote for Hillary that they are not officials from the “Obama campaign” (as YOU put it). That would be Just Plain Dumb.
This post is WAAAAAY out of line. I can't prove that Hillary supporters took down Obama signs on Super Tuesday, but they went missing in a lot of places, so draw your own conclusions about how evil Clinton supporters are and what a terrible candidate Clinton is. Or (preferably) PLEASE DON'T. These kinds of things happen, there are always bad apples in a bunch, and it's irresponsible to try to get people worked up over it and stereotype a large group based on a rumor or minority.
Paul Silver,
Yes, that is a disturbing Hillary campaign tactic. you reported in your comment.
I'm wondering, though, how Obama staffers are insturcted. “Make sure you play nice?”
We need a little context and comparison in order to make heavy judgments. I think it likely that Obma's people would, actually, take a different tack. Unless we know, though, we are in the dark, operating on emotions.
Anyone know what the laws in Cinci are regarding posting signs on public property? Just curious…
Is Hillary Clinton having an affair with Ron Paul? I mean, I can't prove that it happened, but if I write a provocative enough headline it's got to have at least a kernal of truth to it, right?
Using Google Maps and Holly's previous post where she announced the intersection and showed a picture, I took a gander at where that sign was placed. It's obvious where the Walgreens is on the aerial photo, so it's not hard to pick out which corner held the sign in the picture. It looks to be a little island of land in between one of Ohio's strange exit-right-to-go-left quasi-roundabouts. Odds are, that's city land. And you'll be hard pressed to find a city that allows people to place political signs in the public right of way. If a sign went missing from your front yard, that's a bit different. Did you ask what the regulations are about posting political signs on public property?
Is it too much to ask under what tortured definition of the word Holly qualifies as a “moderate” voice?
Jscott: Holly is now definitionally paranoid.
Most urban areas allow no such signs posted on street corners, only manifest private property.
I've seen signs hauled away by city officials before, and this is what happened.
Holly, what the hell is wrong with you?
Obamathieves are running around in raiding parties with spears, which they use to seize and cart away Clinton campaign signs as trophies of war. The reason they haven't been caught yet is because O.J. Simpson is looking for some other criminal.
Seriously, this is going to be one ugly crash.
God bless you Holly and realize we are here for you…
The wind was brutal in nearby Hamilton yesterday–it blew a paper out of my hand 15 yards and the paper was nearly out of sight before I could take a step. On the other hand, none of the signs in front of my business blew away.
In '04 I had a Kerry sign run over by a truck (I could tell by the imprint) in the front yard of my house. It then disappeared. I replaced it with two and they stayed put. Sign stealing seems pretty Rovian for Obama's crew. I have to go with the wind or the city in your case, Holly.
Holly, that does it. This is the last idiotic post of yours I'll bother to read. Pffft. Pathetic.
Just don't mess with Clinton signs in Cincinnati. Holly won't admit if she put ricin on those signs to punish Obamathieves.
But Holly, how do you feel about Hillary switching parties in the middle of the campaign and endorsing John McCain? Wait, you probably approve.
Did I forget my sarcasm tag on that last one? OTOH, Hillary did basically say that McCain is better than Obama on security issues….

Folks, lighten up. The signs were probably taken by city workers. I have seen this happen before, as many take a dim view of election spam everywhere.
Holly cares passionately about this, that's all. No biggie.
Besides, this post yielded one of the most surreal responses I have ever read at TMV… notably
PajamaPundit:
“I wouldn't put it past a rabid Bush/Cheney supporter to stop and grab one of those signs to use in some right-wing ritual involving Rick Santorum chanting “man-on-dog, man-on-dog” and “MC Rove” gettin' jiggy to it.
I have no idea what this means…less of the mind that produced it…but it is surely worth the price of admission, no?

[...] Another fellow blogger placed an interesting blog post on Obamathieves Stealing Clinton Yard Signs? [...]
Holly, good for you for putting the Hillary signs out. However if you put anything in plain view on public property don't complain when it goes missing. And don't blame Obama supporters just because you detest them so much. Besides wasn't McCain on the ballot in Ohio today? Lastly, you could have put lawn chairs out there and someone, whether for fun, for souvenirs, etc. would have taken them.
So don't complain and don't blame Obama supporters when anyone could have taken the signs for one of a million different reasons.

Thanks Macan – I think?
My comment was meant as sarcasm to show just how strange an accusation that Holly is making. Tim_in_Wisconsin had a similar tone:
“Is Hillary Clinton having an affair with Ron Paul? I mean, I can't prove that it happened, but if I write a provocative enough headline it's got to have at least a kernal of truth to it, right?”
I just made my “accusation” all that much more insane.
