I’m here in the media filing center. The Ohio Democratic Party top dogs have given an overview that I didn’t really hear because I was busy figuring out where I am, uploading photos and saying hello to other press. There is supposedly going to be over 500 press here.
In Ohio, it’s 3:30pm EST. I will be blogging through until about 7:30 or so, when I have to go into the audience – I won a ticket to the debate through a lottery, as well as was awarded credentials. MANY bloggers are here and it’s great. I’ve got some video and will be posting that too.
Here are some photos, after the flip. Have questions about what it’s like and what’s happening here? Leave them in the comments and I’ll try let you know!
Here’s the Wolstein Center in Cleveland all dressed up, from the front.
Here’s the media credentialing entrance – love that snow!
HILL-AH-REE! (yes, I’m still undecided; my blogging buddy Jeff Coryell of Ohio Daily Blog says that he did see some Obama folks, but primarily, the corners were cornered by Hillary, just across from the front of the center.
This set will be where Chris Matthews intimidates people.
Here’s one of the two media rooms. I’ve been told that there will be over 500 media covering the debate. I’m here for Newsweek.com’s The Ruckus via The Moderate Voice.
Hey! Look! It’s that really sexy blogger from CNN! No, not HIM! HER!
I would have been jazzed to have gone to the debate, since, as is true for you, Jill, it's happening in my home state. I entered the Ohio Democratic Party sweepstakes for tickets.
But I'm not that excited about the debate itself. We've all heard these candidates ad nauseum for what feels like ten years. It's difficult to imagine that anything newsworthy will emerge from it…except perhaps the proverbial gaffe. That, I suppose, is what the media is hoping to hear.
Nonetheless, the debate as an event must be extremely interesting, Jill. I hope that you'll write about that. You're getting a great behind-the-scenes look at an aspect of presidential campaigning which has become increasingly significant. To have someone share with is all the preparations, the feel of the spin room, and so forth, would be extremely interesting.
Have fun!
Mark
Thanks, Mark.
I was pretty shocked to win an audience seat and get credentials.
I've shot some great video but can't get the sound to work!!! Anyone with advice about Sony Cybershots and MacBooks around!??
I do believe that being in the audience will be the most exciting part – but it's all pretty fun!
I never heard back from the ODP sweepstakes!

Er, um, I think that means you didn't get a ticket?
I feel like Charlie from Willy Wonka and the golden ticket.
Congratulations on being there as our most important person at the debate. Did you hear that Dodd came out for Obama? We will look for you in the crowd – ha.
Hey! I know who you are – but your secret is safe with me. Thanks.
