E.J. Dionne writes that Dems Should Challenge McCain on Terror
If McCain’s central “transcendent challenge” to defeat radical Islamic extremists claim falls apart on close examination, the best rationale he has for his election would disappear.
…Presumably, he’s saying that Islamic extremism is more important than everything else — the rise of China and India as global powers, growing resistance to American influence in Europe, the weakening of America’s global economic position, the disorder and poverty in large parts of Africa, the alienation of significant parts of Latin America from the United States. Is it in our national interest for all these issues to take a back seat to terrorism?
Well, at least he said “terrorism” instead of “terror” within the article.
It really doesn't matter. Whatever else McCain might emphasize instead would also be dismissed and the basis of fake attacks by the likes of Dionne on McCain as some kind of (fiction-that-sells-to-gullible-lefties) sinister, evil, far-right arch-conservative [insert ominous music] bible-totin' hillbilly packing heat.
I think there needs to be a blog that rules out any description of people ending in “ist”.
Going back to Paul's post, the Democrats can also definitely fight with McCain on whether his strategies are in fact the best way to combat the threat of terrorism. The gullible-leftist Rand Corporation, among many others, has recently provided reports that it in fact is not.
RAND is no lefty outfit. Besides, CSIS had warned about “winning the peace” before any problems had begun to materialize to any significant extent in Iraq.
