Design change
As you can see, The Moderate Voice’s design has changed. This is part one to optimize TMV’s speed when loading into your browsers. A substantial amount of graphical style elements were removed in order to do this. Part two is optimizing our server which will occur late evening EST on Monday (01/21/08). Post categories and archives will be added back Monday afternoon. We are still ironing out font sizes also.

UPDATE #1
I’ve already have some reports the Internet Explorer 6 and 7 may have issues with the new design. Great… (much sarcasm intended). Microsoft calls IE the standard yet it handles the basics in a most non-standard way. Meanwhile Firefox and Safari are handling the site well. We’ll look into the IE6 and IE7 issues later today.

OMG! I can actually see the font – and *all* the text without the weird disappearances! And even sign in to post comments!
All things I've had great difficulty with over the last few months. I hope I'm not being too eager when I declare success (but I probably am)!

Hey there, T-Steel thanks! I think it's a couple steps up from the old look. Don't rush on IE for my sake- my Safari is quite happy.

Yup! It's gorgeous in Firefox!
FWIW John Cole at Balloon Juice polled his readers on a site change. BJ is a simple design in shades of gray without alot of graphics. In less than a few hours the “new bells and whistles” upgrade was shot down. Blogs that are basically text hurt themselves with excessive graphics.
Well Rudi, I tend to agree with ya now. We are still doing things to make this new design work with our server issues but overall, this front page has shrunk in size and is more compatible.
It ooks great Tyrone! And it loads faster, too.
FWIW – Firefox is the way to go when blogging. Spell Check and HTML Coding alone should make even the most diehard Microsoft fan (I'm in that group) give it a try.

It looks good but I think you should seriously think about cleaning up the left sidebar. It's insanely long. Your blogroll deserves it's own page…

One quibble- any way we can get Joe's old classic 'photo' back on the blog?
Also, I like that if you bookmark a post it gives the title of the post, not just TMV, with the long header.
