President Barack Obama gave an interview to MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski aired w this morning — part of a closing-days strategy that has the Prez doing a string of interviews for various news outlets and media venues. This is in contrast to the campaign of Republican nominee Mitt Romney. Team Romney has made it known they will not slate interviews before the final votes are cast — but I am predicting Romney or Ryan will appear on Sean Hannity’s program (since it’s not an interview but a p.r. program for Republicans that should be titled “Softball” when they appear).
“Morning Joe” continues to be one of the most thoughtful and must-view political discussion programs on cable with a focus on spirited analysis versus name calling and demonization — which is why some partisans don’t like it. It is also over the course of a year attacked by both the left and the right (uh oh, here come the false equivilency police..).
The video below but most striking about this interview taped with Obama during a campaign stop in New Hampshire coming a little more than a week before election day and as the Obama-Romney campaigns seems poised to lose several fully-focused media days due to Hurricane Sandy’s likely brutal impact:
