A NOTE TO READERS: We’ve had some technical problems and as a result some posts that should be on TMV are not getting on. For instance, I couldn’t get on last night to do my post and roundup on the debate. And a post I did this morning was lost.
Some posts are getting on but some are going to be delayed or not get on. TMV may be down for a little bit during the day while some issues are being resolved and down for an hour or two later tonight. Some of these are WordPress glitches and issues and if they cannot be resolved TMV will eventually be moved off WordPress.
So keep checking back and if you check back and the site won’t come up, it probably means the techs are working on the site.
Our goal is to continue to offer you the best in news commentary, big-issue coverage, news analysis, and opinion from writers from different parts of the world, links to varying sources and ideas, plus original reporting, reviews and other features. And when these technical issues are resolved, there will be some other new things, too. So stay tuned!
I’ve had problems accessing TMV all morning. Sometimes it’s up, sometimes not. Once it was up, but the comments were down.
Our tech has already discovered one cause of part of our problems. So work will be going on to fix these issues.
Joe Is it your tech or the server provider? BJ had similar problem(database?) and those seemed to be fixed.
Finding out more and more that all of the problems are linked to our server provider. And one that is seriously ticking me off (I’m the TMV tech).
TS As I mentioned above, BJ had a similar problem and asked for help from readers. I believe their was an issue with the database(WP) at the SP. My personal small bitch is with “graphics heavy” sites like current TMV, CQ and AllThingsButiful…
This is becoming a habit on the lefty & middle ground blogs. Blue Girl, Red State & Donklephant were both shut down entirely & lost some of their files within the past 2 months. It appears they both had server issues also. Good luck in getting up & going securely again.
Now if I was paranoid, I might consider a conspiracy was afoot. . .
Always download a copy of the actual database used for dynamic blogs. If the SP lost the database storing info, then bye-bye.
TS What’s going on with the sidebar?
Rudi,
Found some database weirdness and I’m correcting it (alot of problems in the blogroll but will fix that in the next several days). All in all, got things running better.
TMV’s database is backed up several times a day. Never can be too safe.
TS – Is Joe serious about a change to MoveableType or other platform? If so, you got lots of work comin.
Only if WP fails miserably but that doesn’t look like it will happen.
