How did drivers licenses for illegal immigrants become the dominant issue in the Democratic nomination process? This is one of those stupid distractions that the media LOVES….they can’t get enough of this issue.
Holly says:
Bill Richardson might as well declare his candidacy for Senate right now because he’s digging a deep hole in which to bury his VP hopes.

“Clinton Sparkles“?
DLS, if that question mark is meant to imply incredulity, I am with you. Clinton Sparkles? Really? They obviously weren’t watching the same debate I was last night. She was good, there’s no denying that. But the minute foreign policy came up, Biden stole the show from all of them. He made the other candidates (with the exception of Richardson and to a lesser extent Dodd) look like high school kids in their first world history class. Unfortunately, the MSM focuses all of their time and attention on Clinton and Obama who are both politically inexperienced lightweights when held up against Biden and Richardson. And the American people lose in the end because unless we all put forth the effort to research the “2nd tier” candidates, we’re ignoring the better qualified, more capable nominees.
The notion of Hillary or Obama being more electable even though they aren’t quite as qualified just makes me want to pull my hair out. It’s the same mistake Democrats made in 2004 when we nominated Kerry as the safe candidate instead of Howard Dean who would have fought tooth and nail against George Bush. If we nominate Richardson or Biden or even Dodd and throw the full support of the Democratic party behind him, we can beat the Republican nominee. We can attract independents and centrist Republicans with a candidate who is experienced, who has common sense, who has shown that he is capable of working with both parties, who can effectively negotiate with foreign powers (including the ones we don’t like). We have got to stop falling into this trap of electable vs. capable when they ARE NOT mutually exclusive.
I was incredulous. She did okay, even had a couple of clever things to say (“Republican playbook” was maybe the best), but sparkles? *gag*
Most people were more sane and just said that she recovered in this debate from previous missteps, notably the problem she had about the driver’s licenses for illegal aliens (Spitzer’s plan).
It’s image — superficiality. And,
If it makes you feel better, the GOP is worse about this, this election: Robertson is endorsing Giuliani.
[rolling eyes]
Does Barack Obama have a psychological advantage that could take him to the White House?
No wonder Kucinich is doing so poorly.
