It’s a tragedy some people are nearly forgotten. Timmie Rogers was a hugely popular, crowd-pleasing African-American comedian who appeared often on The Ed Sullivan Show during the 1950s and 1960s with his catchphrase tagline: “Oh, yeah!” But he was a quadruple threat: comedian, singer, dancer and composer. He was a smash performer. Details on him on the web are sketchy but here’s a tiny bit.
For comedy fans and aspiring comedians and show biz types, here’s a WONDERFUL bit: Rogers doing a comedy bit with the legendary great comedian Jackie Gleason.
And here he on TV giving a 1970s sitcom his personal comedic touch:

You’re right, Joe. He’s great. It is a shame when someone with that talent is forgotten. It’s also too bad he didn’t see more work later in his career that would have given him the wider exposure I think he probably deserved just based on these two clips.
A couple of things I remember about Timmie Rogers was a routine about how he met his wife and she got her name from him.
“I met my baby in Florida F.L.A that’s Fla
I married her in Georgia G.A and that’s Ga
we honeymoond in Louisianna L.A and thats LA
now we live in Pennsylvania P.A and that’s PA
so i call my baby Fla -ga- la- pa cause falgalapa is her name….Oh Yeah!
Another one was he was talking about how poor they were when they were kids. “My sister was so skinny that when she walked in the wind she hummed”. “We was so poor that we used to walk along the railroad tracks just to collect coal that fell fron the trains for our stove for heat ….then came the depression…..Oh yeah. Funny funny guy….Oh Yeah!
