Center of Attention

scales_of_justice.jpg

A round up of recent posts by a few centrist, moderate, and independent bloggers.

First Gen. Petraeus; now NYT journalist John Burns has agreed to an interview with Hugh Hewitt. McQ wonders if “the left” will also accuse Burns of being a mouth piece for BushCo.

Dave Schuler questions Muslim accommodations and requests for accommodations that are not equally “accorded to non-Muslims.”

Sean Aqui looks at NY Gov. Spitzer’s “unique” approach to controversy: Stare it down; speak frankly about it; take action; clean house. Hmmm. Who woulda thought of that?

Justin Gardner thinks Congressman Paul may be on to something in the latter’s call for incenting bounty hunters and mercenaries to capture O.B. Laden.

Shay features the voice of “a moderate-conservative Republican blogger” who’s leaning (heavily) toward Fred Thompson as his pick for President. Shay, on the other hand, has only managed to whittle her choices down to eight (four R’s and four D’s). I know how she feels.

David Adesnik takes a fresh look at the national “values” (versus “interests”) that prompt the U.S., U.K., and France to keep watching each other’s backs.

Andrew Sullivan asks and offers answers to the question: Are we in “a cold war with Iran?”

John Burns is an independent reporter. Both sides are cherry picking stories. I wonder how McQlown felt about Burns and NYT’s when he wrote critical pieces. The last couple of times Burns appeared on Charlie Rose he spoke of optimism in Iraq.

  2. DLS says:

The home of Ted Stevens (R) was raided by the FBI and IRS as part of a corruption probe.

  3. Rudi says:

Did they cross the “bridge to nowhere” to bust down his door? I bet if he was there he got better treatment than the the women in Baltimore and Atlanta(drug raids gone bad).

  4. kritter says:

They contacted his attorneys before the raid. Uh, doesn’t that defeat the purpose of catching Stevens unawares? Why give him a chance to get rid of vital evidence? I’ve never had as little confidence in federal enforcement agencies as I do now. Part of me is thinking- is this just for show?
