14 Squirrels Arrested In Iran For Spying

An interesting tidbit from Ynetnews, a popular and reputable Israeli news site:

Iranian intelligence operatives recently detained over a dozen squirrels found within the nation’s borders, claiming the rodents were serving as spies for Western powers determined to undermine the Islamic Republic.

“In recent weeks, intelligence operatives have arrested 14 squirrels within Iran’s borders,” state-sponsored news agency IRNA reported. “The squirrels were carrying spy gear of foreign agencies, and were stopped before they could act, thanks to the alertness of our intelligence services.”

Iranian police commander Esmaeil Ahmadi-Moqadam confirmed the report, saying that a number of squirrels had been caught bearing foreign spy gear within Iran’s borders.

“I heard of this but I have no specific knowledge on the subject,” he said. He refused to give further details.

Maybe they were Iran because they heard its President is nuts.

When will Taheri design the patches for the squirrels prison garb?
    YNET reputable?

Rudi — It doesn’t matter. Bush hired the squirrels; it’s all Bush’s fault; Bush is evil unbound, et cetera, ad nauseum.

  3. Rudi

But DLS – Will the squirrels have to wear patches? Or were they part of the mind control gang like the sharks?

  4. Looks like the Iranian government is starting to get a bit paranoid. If this is true, hopefully it is a sign of imminent collapse.

I hope the squirrels’ identities were not revealed during interrogation- it could jeopardize the entire operation. Perhaps Condi Rice can negotiate their release before its too late for them!

    WOW

    LMAO

While humorous I doubt if the story isn’t a hoax like the “patches” or “computer virus” stories attributed to Iran. I notice that the “wingnuts” like Malkin are all over the squirrels. Maybe the Persians will intern all rodents.

  8. As usual, MSM have missed the point of this story: It can now be revealed that Michael Chertoff wasn’t relying on his gut feelings after all but trying not to blow the cover of our top-secret Squirrel Intelligence operation:

The CIA really must have been demoralized after the intelligence failures of the last few years, and the outing of Valerie Plame- they’ve really lowered the bar in their hiring standards.
Although, on a positive note, the squirrels are probably willing to work for peanuts!

RS – Great post, did the Iranians actual capture the squirrels or did hormones cause them to blow their cover. Those clever Iranians sending out female squirrels without the islamic veil or hijab. I wonder if Sistani would aprove of female squirrels parading around in western garb?

  11. They’ll eventually parade the squirrels on TV showing them eating nuts, drinking tea, and playing table tennis before finally releasing them back into the forest all dressed in the same suit.
