You have to play the cards that you are dealt. Especially if the dealer is the Supreme Court.
Besides, like all of the candidates, they have absolutely nothing to do with the superPacs so there is nothing that they can do to stop one from forming, is there? [/sarcasm]
Duh, the hopey changey guy is gone and Super Politician emerges from the telephone booth (don’t quibble).
“Obama’s top campaign staff and even some Cabinet members will appear at super PAC events.”
“Another awkward timing issue: Last week, Senate Democrats, led by Chuck Schumer of New York, announced plans to hold hearings into whether Republican-backed super PACs had violated federal law banning coordination between super PACs and campaigns.”
I find all the complaining about the decision by SCOTUS concerning super pacs very interesting.
All this decision did was eliminate a cottage industry from developing that would find ways around any law or lack of laws that controlled campaign money.
It is either Super PACS or some other means of supporting candidates with millions of dollars. Remember, most laws are written by individuals unable to make it in the private sector, so they work for the government in some form. The smart ones are the ones working the private sector finding all the loopholes in laws that legislators enact.
” most laws are written by individuals unable to make it in the private sector”
WOW!
Actually, most laws are written by lobbyists that have done quite well in the private sector. Oh, and we have some very successful business men and women in Washington that plan on using their Washington ties to get even wealthier once they return to the private sector.
Not everyone outside of the private sector is incompetent. The belief that they are is probably why some have no faith in anything the government can do.
The biggest story even before (and still after) the Republican PACs drew notice (and strange behavior from many liberals) was that Obama had a $1 billion or more “war chest” of funds to use on his re-election.
He’s still the big-money candidate (and the incumbent with much, much to criticize, no matter how poor you believe the GOP people are).
Lets all reread and give applause to RP.

Meh, sure, why not? The Citizens United case is easily one of the worst decisions to come out of the SC in recent centuries, but it is the law of the land now. What’s Obama supposed to do, take a fall before the fight has even started? What good would that do?
I don’t see a disconnect between saying the new rules suck but also playing by them. They do suck, but they are the rules so its game on.
If baseball came out with a new style bat that was legal to use and added 50 yards to your avg hit, and I said they cheapen the game because now a home run can be hit by anyone, but still used them just to keep the match even that makes me a hypocrite? No, its just playing the game as its written, even if whats written is ruining the game.
Republicans are responsible for Citizens United. It never would have been enacted had they not installed reactionary fools in the USSC. Too bad Obama has to go this route but of course he has no choice if he wants to be re-elected – which is no sure thing either. Just wait until the oil companies start throwing their money around.
Obama does oppose the super Pacs and has roundly criticized SCOTUS’ Citizen’s United decision that brought them down on our collective heads.
Yet now he realizes that just as Romney creamed Gingrich in Iowa with pac money, Romney will cream HIM in November with pac money.
Its survival of the fittest-no reason for Obama to be the one winnowed out.
At least he isn’t pretending to be something different than a politician.
It will be interesting to see how the voting public responds to Obama the politician as opposed to Obama the second coming.
Luckily he is running against the worst crop of Reps since…..wow, I have no idea how long.
And of course, with 4 years of Presidential experience, he will be a force on the campaign trail and in debates.
Seems like this is always the way it is with campaigns, politicians decry the spending and undue influence while taking full advantage of it.

ROTFLMAO
LOL… good luck Chuck.

Wow, 15 cabinet members out there shilling for Obama. Like a Mel Brooks movie character said after tipping the pissoir boy:”It’s good to be King.”

Millions of dollars? Puhleeze, try billions.

Yeh, hopey changey becomes tit for tatty.
