The Oh, Please, God, Can’t You Give Her Laryngitis Dept.
We really won’t give her more hits in Google searches. So we won’t mention her name (OR even put the category with her name above this post). So no one can accuse us of promoting her.
But a certain person who has done more to further the vulgarization, polarization and insulting nature of 21st century American political discourse — and is consequently a monster success and a HUGE favorite with political groups, cable and radio talk shows — has been at it again. This time she made a statement suggesting she’d be happy if John Edwards was assassinated (just joooooooooking, of course!).
But then Elizabeth Edwards (who happens to be married to John Edwards) confronted her (I mean, what’s cable political discussion without controversy and confrontation unless you want to have to watch those boring old policy wonk issue discussions that you see on CSPAN that don’t have people yelling over each other) by telephone while You Know Who was making her latest (verbal) bomb-throwing cable appearance (with bombs only thrown at one political party).

PS: Yes, it is schtick. Schtick that sells books. But there is a cultural PRICE to the high profile schtick: it’s helping create, nurture and validate a culture of political demonization and seemingly perpetual confrontation. Hopefully, young people see through it and will do better when it’s their moment to replace the old, screeching. name-calling political guard.
People can discuss and debate without hating each other — and without wishing those with whom they disagree be blown up in a terrorist attack.

I won’t even follow links to watch her because she probably gets paid by the ‘cookie’ counters, too.
Well, it’s certainly better to not mention her name (I wonder if she gets all the counts for “hysterical witch” as well) but I’ll still be much happier when her antics give her zero publicity. Just like a child with a tantrum, she wont stop until she is utterly ignored. The media covers her, so I guess I understand why this blog does, but I still would be much happier if I never had to think about her.
Laryngitis? Nah, too temporary, get her a psychiatrist and a whole bunch of meds.

It’s interesting to see hoe Coulter avoids all substance and just falls back uncomfortably on to her schtick- not unlike many blog comments.
Its all mantra. Certain phrases just raise the blood pressure by saying them.
No one here comes up with any new or exciting or USEABLE ideas either. WE all just repeat our same old tired trite phrases inflicted upon us by someone who thought of it first and turned it into a talking point.

Chris Matthews needs to change his bat for a softball one. Calling her a “brilliant writer” is like calling GWB an eloquent statesmen. A pithy, look at me, Barbie dressed up in ultracon clothes, AC adds nothing salient to the great debate. If she does it is overshadowed by the ichor of her ad-hominem potshot gregariousness. Paris Hilton wrote a successful book too, maybe she should get together and write a book.
Elizabeth Edwards Viciously Attacks Ann Coulter
It’s really sad the way Elizabeth Edwards has debased our political dialogue by confronting pundits with their own words.
Not to mention it was a setup .Matthews continued the same shtick he has been playing anytime he has a conservative on his show. It reminded me of the time he invited Michelle Malkin on the show so that he could act indignant over a partial answer to a question he had asked. On cue he kicked her off the show claiming she made a comment she never actually made. In this case he kept shutting off Ann so that he could create a sound bite rather than a nuanced answer dependent on context. I have to say though that bringing on the ailing wife of a candidate was a nice touch. It took pandering to a new level.

I thought that was what a name like Somebody was all about. Gee Hangin…..I think your right. Perhaps I should go back to school and learn how to talk ghetto talk on a blog so I don’t incur the wrath of the Etiquette patrol.
It concerns me that a person like AC can still retain any credibility, yet she does. I really don’t see the comparison with Rosie either. One is a hollywood loudmouth not particularly loved by anyone, the other is a dedicated political pundit lionized by the right and far right.
I mean, all she does is spew uninformed, poorly rationalized hate of anything not neocon. Its the success of people like her that make me really worried, because obviously there are millions out there that agree with her opinions and tirades. That scares the shit out of me like terrorism never will.
There’s a good chance she’ll end up like Joe McCarthy someday. Sadly, though, she’s already probably quite wealthy from what she’s done. Not as bad a scam as Chomsky’s, but personally more offensive, behavior-wise.
