Classy, correct, and it illustrates a larger problem with our politics.
Obama’s appointment of Huntsman, and Huntsman’s acceptance of the post, is a rare occurrence that should be much more common.
Sometimes the best person for the job is someone you don’t necessarily align with politically, yet increasingly Presidents have been wont to appoint not just members of their own party exclusively, but members of their own clique within the party, lest they be challenged on policy grounds.
Half the reason we stumbled into Iraq is because Bush surrounded himself almost exclusively with people who had been itching to invade the country since the mid 1990s, and there was nobody around to ask if we were doing the right thing.
To his credit, Obama bucked that trend somewhat, but now one of the most sane GOP candidates is being branded as just short of a traitor because he put country before party.
Later he was asked what he would be doing if he wasn’t here, running and debating
He said: “I would be calling my two sons in the Navy, because pandering patriotic blah-dee-dah….blah-de-dah…ditto….ect….ect…”
Really? Every moment of your spare time Jon?
In my opinion, he is using his son’s service to get elected a bit to much now. Again, it is his son’s service and sacrifice, not his. Bartering their sacrifice for votes to become the nominee is pretty cheesy.
Phoney or real, you decide, but it would appear to be effective.
I thought H did well in the NBC debate (didn’t watch the Sat. one).
I know he doesn’t have much of a chance, but I would want him to win the nomination.
Oh, yes, Obama did a good thing.
I guess he’s running for 2016 at this point (and could be our next Sec. of State) because Mr. Disingenuous, er, Romney, won’t beat Obama and it seems as though the “great middle” of this country is finally boosting the moderate platform front and “center” – hence this website
Its an ongoing source of sadness that Huntsman is so far back in the field considering the quality of the other candidates. Its like the GOP just haven’t been paying attention the last 10 years or so. Huntsman is the Republican who can possibly bring the GOP back to what it used to be. Sad.
I agree: it was one of the rare classy moments in the debate.

Very good…but.

Agree 100% slamfu. Huntsman should be fighting for the nomination, not mired behind a bunch of yahoos.
