    Spot on. I would add in that it turns debates into Reality TV where the moderator or the network tries to create conflict instead of put up substance.

    Hopefully this fad will die. If more top-tier candidates refuse to play, or are at least more selective, then it will die.

    Not so much the year of the debate, but the year of Republican entertainment.
