A round up of recent reporting and commentary by a few centrist, moderate, and independent bloggers.

Shay at Booker Rising challenges Devone Tucker’s Q&A re: why many African Americans still adore Bill Clinton.

At Q&O, McQ offers a remarkably balanced opinion about Spykes: “a 2-ounce bottle of flavored malt beverage,” introduced recently by Anheuser-Busch. (Editor’s Note: In a past life, I consulted with Anheuser-Busch and the Francine Katz cited in McQ’s post. With all due respect to Ms. Katz and the company, I happen to agree with McQ’s take on this matter.)

This Easter weekend, signs and implications of theocracy in the U.S. are on the minds of several bloggers, including bmagnus at ShortWoman and TMV Assistant Editor Michael Stickings at his own place, The Reaction.

Yesterday, a number of bloggers jumped on the seemingly outrageous plan of Michigan Democrats to use taxpayer dollars to purchase iPods for students. Libby Spencer wonders if the criticism of that plan (including her own) was a bit premature.

Brad DeLong spotlights an interesting story on Newt Gingrich’s (perhaps unwitting) contribution to the dissolution of a Republican student group at University of Vermont.

The Angry Independent suggests the Bush Administration and the Soprano family have something in common.
