Hillary Raises 36 26 Million

The Hotline on Call‘s Marc Ambinder reports that Hillary Clinton has raised $26 million in the first quarter of this year. Yes, that is a record.

Marc goes on to explain why it is a “good number”, but “really, not so much.”
1- Reports indicate that Barack Obama raised… $21 million.
2- Some “worry that $26M is as good as it gets for Clinton.”

Obviously, it is a good number. The problem for Hillary is that everyone expected of her to break the Democratic record. She can only surprise people by underperforming. The situation is quite different, of course, for Barack Obama: if he did indeed raise $21 million that’s, as Marc calls it, “huge”. That is probably what people will talk about.

Hillary made sure to get her numbers out before anyone, especially Obama, first. Billary are worried, obsessed and pissed about Obama. They figured that Hillary would glide to a tiara.
    sorry, Hillary.
People on both sides majorly dislike you and know Obama is the best candidate.

Here’s my question: If I declared mysef a candidate for president could I raise 26 million, then run off with it to Buenos Aires?

  3. pacatrue says:

Probably not Buenos Aires, m., as the exradition possibilities are too high. How about Tehran? Or a lovely fishing village in North Korea?

First quarter fundraising: Depth versus width…

Early numbers suggest that Hillary Clinton has broken fund raising records by bringing in $26 million in the first quarter (she transferred in another $10 million to bring her total to $36 million). However, as Michael at The Moderate Voice……

It isn’t especially surprising that Hiliary would have the biggest mega-bucks.

Just look at her re-election campaign to the Senate last year. She spent so much money that it made “drunken sailors’ look like ‘pikers.”

Obama took an interesting approach, choosing to measure the number of contributions rather than dollars raised (at least that’s how he presents it on his campaign Web site). HuffPo is reporting that he brought in contributions from over 83,000 people, compared to only around 50,000 for Hillary.

That says something about Hillary’s donors as well as widespread support for Obama.
