Ohio State, you can feel free to not give me any more heart attacks this tournament. Last second threes are low percentage. I recommend stomping on opponents for the entire 40 minutes instead (see Vanderbilt v. GW for a pointer). Easier on the ol’ cardiac muscle. You have to feel bad for that poor Xavier kid who missed the icing free throw though. So, does Ohio State come out of this game stronger due to clutch play, or vulnerable because they needed a desperation three and OT to get past a nine seed?
Speaking of last second threes being low percentage, Louisville nearly won me my family pool by knocking out Texas A&M. You could blame it on the guy who missed both end of game free throws (one to tie, two to take the lead). But, after the Aggies missed two free throws of their own, I blame the Cardinal who decided that a fade-away three was the shot of choice when you’re only down by one. Oy gevolt!
Meanwhile, BC goes to the half ahead of Georgetown. But can it last? That depends on two things: If the Eagles can avoid lapsing into the hideous chaos they played like in the first five minutes, and if Jared Dudley continues to be a man-beast on the court (I mean that in the best possible sense).
WSU seems in control over Vandy, as does Pitt over VCU. Let’s hope that doesn’t change.
UPDATE: That’ll teach me to ever feel good at halftime. Vanderbilt destroys one quarter of my Final Four. And again with the unnecessary last-second threes!
The only way this day will be salvaged is if MSU manages to defeat UNC. Go ahead, laugh.

You know, I can’t remember a better day of second-round action. So far, six games played, three went into OT and two others were decided in regulation by three points. The first round had some good games, but nothing like today. Hopefully the trend will continue.
Of course my team, Oklahoma, is experiencing March the same way I am: at home on the couch. But that’s okay. Oklahoma’s women’s team is still playing, and they’re far more fun to watch anyway. If you want to see entertaining and quality ball, check ‘em out.

Go VANDY. First time to the Sweet 16 since I actually was in school there! Georgetown will be a bear. It was hard watching them dismantle my other “V” team, Villanova. I think it will be another cardiac moment at the end, or close for most of the game with Georgetown coming on strong at the end. Perhaps Vandy might pull it out but, I find most of the time the Sweet 16 is wear the rubber hit the road for the upset crowd.
