Now that the brief diversion that was the Casey Anthony trial is over, order has been restored to our tabloid infotainment world. Paris Hilton has found her way back into the news. Paparrazi staking out the heiress’s Malibu home – who knew the paparrazi still staked her out – spotted 36 year old James Rainford on the property and called police.
Rainford, who has long stalked the blonde [insert word of your choice] has twice before been arrested for “trying to meet” Ms. Hilton. His last encounter resulted in a 227 day jail sentence when he grabbed then flavor of the month Hilton boyfriend Cy Waits outside a courthouse in LA. Rainford was booted out of the County lockup less than 30 days into his seven and a half month sentence to relieve jail overcrowding. Two months later he was back on the prowl, putting the untalented, but ever attention grabbing blonde [insert word of your choice] back in the papers.
Rainford has pleaded not guilty and is being held on $30,000 bond. He was charged with disobeying a court order to stay away from Ms. Hilton. Ah, isn’t it refreshing to know that we have Paris back in the news? The world can now spin freely on its axis once again.
[Author's Note: If I'm not mistaken, the headline in the WaPo article linked above should read "Man Arrested...", not "Many Arrested...", though Hilton might prefer the latter for notoriety purposes.]
Unfortunately, some on the airwaves made the Anthony story not only not brief (in fact, years long), but inflated it to enormous size.
(probably for their own gain)
Joe W. earlier identified Nancy Grace as a “standout” in this regard.
Joe, if you’re out there, here’s another link from me.

More circuses, less bad bread, on television — no surprise to me.
Thanks Elijah, I for one am breathing a sigh of relief. Somehow the air is just a little richer, the light a little brighter, colors a little deeper now. I feel like I’m living in a Maxfield Parrish painting!
“Paparrazi protect Paris from peeper repeat”
ES, I don’t know if you noticed, but dye Hilton’s hair and voila a good facsimile of Anthony emerges. Does anyone doubt that the screen play is half written by now? Paris Does Casey on TNT.
PS, any guess on how many books are being pitched?

Honest to god truth, Duck. I never watched or read one thing to do with Anthony and have no idea what she looks like, but I’ll take your word for it.
Nice alliteration, ProfE.
Thanks, Zephyr. Glad everyone’s having fun with this.
Nancy Grace thinks everyone’s a criminal, D. Remember the Duke lacrosse team…and every other vicious condemnation coming from her of anyone ever investigated. Presumption of innocence ends when the microphone is turned on in her world.
