Not exactly stunning news.
According to a review by the Federal Housing Administration the bank ‘significantly hindered’ the investigation into problems with mortgages by failing to provide information, refusing access to employees, etc.
Wow, a big corporation does something potentially crooked and then fails to cooperate with those looking into whether they did something potentially crooked.
Next thing you know murder suspects will be reluctant to cooperate with the police.
I hate to sound all radically and stuff, but that might change if they started throwing banking executives into jail.
Crooks belong in jail, nothing radical about that.
Or lined up and shot. The damage done to the economy by their collective policies far outweighs simple crime. Do they allow racketeering charges to be brought in white collar cases or just organized crime ones? Because they really should if they don’t. But if they could extend the death penalty to the guys sitting in a room who decide to screw the public that would be nice. As one wise man once said it would be great in such a meeting if just one guys spoke up and thought, “Hey, can’t we get shot for this?”
Don’t be silly. We all know accountability only applies to the rank and file.
Btw, I dropped Bank of America several years ago after discovering their customer service was inept almost beyond belief.
Very true, a corporation is only a citizen when it comes to being able to contribute to political campaigns, when it comes to culpability / liability… there’s nothing human about them.
Re: Dropping BofA… I did just the opposite but feel I’m getting the best of them.
A million years ago they offered free checking “for life” and credit cards with no annual fees “for life” just as long as you ‘didn’t this’ or ‘didn’t that.’ Well, I didn’t and I’m still alive… Boy are they pissed! Twenty-five plus years of free banking. Ha ha ha… Thanks a lot Bank of Italy!
All large banks have crappy customer service, its just a matter of time until you get the short end of the stick with regards to it. The worst of it I feel are the automated call routing that don’t take keypad entry to route but instead force you to shout into the phone like an idiot. Often they don’t hear me correctly and its just embarassing unless you are making the call with some privacy. One of the larger evils to come about thru better technology. I can’t help but feel some of those resources were drawn from building my flying cars.
