I have no idea what the author meant, unless it’s a reflection on the difficulties of the practice of writing.

My reflex reaction is that writing about life raises the experience of life to a different level.

Just mulling something over, the mind can go in circles or stops and starts. It can tolerate contradictions pretty well, as well incoherence.

Writing imposes the discipline of organizing relfextions. The contradicions and unanswered questions become apparent and demand resolution. When seeing thoughts put in black and white, the author becomes judge as well as supplicant.

    Writing ain’t easy.

Let me guess, he is a writer?

  3. Gray says:

“Everything a writer learns about the art or craft of fiction takes just a little away from his need or desire to write at all. In the end he knows all the tricks and has nothing to say.”

    Raymond Chandler
