Here’s further proof that not all nuts are sold in Sprouts Markets stores or on the right. File this for sure in your Twilight Zone extremist file and also the file where you save stories on people who talk violence and should be shunned by all sides in America:
Lars von Trier, who was banned from Cannes for praising Hitler, was not the only one making unsavoury comments at the film festival.
Peter Fonda, the star of Easy Rider, suggested to Mandrake that he was encouraging his grandchildren to shoot President Barack Obama.
“I’m training my grandchildren to use long-range rifles,” said the actor, 71. “For what purpose? Well, I’m not going to say the words ‘Barack Obama’, but …”
When Easy Rider came out I saw it DESPITE Peter Fonda who back in my college days when I was extremely conservative I viewed not as a role model but as an anti-role model. In no way, shape or form did I want to be like Peter Fonda, no matter how much money he had. My view on that never changed but mellowed. But now due to his reprehensible comments I feel that way (and will make sure I never see any of his films in theaters, rent them, or view them on TV). MORE:
He added, enigmatically: “It’s more of a thought process than an actuality, but we are heading for a major conflict between the haves and the have nots. I came here many years ago with a biker movie and we stopped a war. Now, it’s about starting the world.
“I prefer to not to use the words, ‘let’s stop something’. I prefer to say, ‘let’s start something, let’s start the world’.
Hey, Peter: why don’t you start with some therapy?
You could well soon find yourself starting with a visit from the Secret Service when you get back to the U.S.
“There’s no room any more for a sissy and, like I said, don’t forget that I’ve got grandsons who I’ve trained with long-distance rifles. We have to run like mofos to change this world.”
Peter: The Americans on sides who don’t feel they need to use long-distance rifles to achieve their agendas are not sissies. They are honorable Americans who understand how our democracy works. They don’t make comments that ignore chapters in our history such as the killing of Abraham Lincoln or JFK.
If loose lips can sink ships then violent talk can make assassins stalk.
Your comments make you someone all sides should shun for at least as many more years as between now and when Easy Rider was filmed.
I would say “shot” but based on your comments it might not be a wise idea.
