So, Bobby Jindal preempted any birther-type controversy by releasing his birth certificate just in case he finds himself campaigning for higher office in the near future.
This examples the sad state of affairs American politics finds itself in. The very fact that President Obama had to prove that he was born in America, simply because a loud group of racists, fronted by a baffoon known as Donald Trump, hijacked the national debate is very depressing indeed.
It also shows how serious the issue has become especially in the Republican party. What does it say about the GOP if one of their own is doing this? What is Jindal saying about himself? Has any sitting Louisiana Governor released his birth-certificate in this manner before?
In the long run, I fear that this environment of racial politics, and make no mistake about it this whole birther/birth-certificate discussion is about race, will catch up with GOP. I would wager that such matters disgust the majority of independents and more importantly this will push minorities further away from the GOP. This quasi-racist environment maybe a good thing for the GOP now, with their southern-orientated strategy, but with increasing evidence that minorities in the US will become a majority in the near future this could be a very dangerous strategy for the Republicans.
But anyway, good for you Bobby. You have proven that you were born in the United States. You have shown further the true colors of the political party you represent.
Just a normal everyday bloke writing about films.
