Here’s Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s statement about the killing of terrorist-chief Osama bin Laden yesterday in a special ops operation by Navy Seals in Pakistan.
Here is some of CBS News’ report on Clinton’s comments:
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Monday that the killing of Osama bin Laden offered a clear message to al Qaeda’s Taliban allies in Afghanistan: “You cannot wait us out, you cannot defeat us, but you can make the choice to abandon al Qaeda and participate in a peaceful, political process.”
Clinton added that America will continue “relentlessly pursuing the murderers who target innocent people.”
“The fight continues and we will never waver,” she said. “Now I know there are some who doubted this day would ever come. Who questioned our resolve and our reach. But let us remind ourselves this is America. We rise to the challenge. We persevere. And we get the job done.”
Noting that many of those killed by al Qaeda worldwide were Muslims, Clinton said the attacks were “motivated by a violent ideology that holds no value for human life or regard for human dignity.”
“I know that nothing can make up for the loss of the victims or fill the voids they left,” she said. “But I hope their families can now find some comfort in the fact that justice has been served.”
.
I am glad that OBL is dead, he was a murderer of innocents. But, I am not gleeful as many seem to be. I hope the Muslim world will not over react too harshly since he was a small negative minority in an otherwise peaceful Muslim populace.
dduck, for once we agree.

Agreed duck, I feel good about the taking out of Bin Laden and am proud of those who made it happen, but glee is entirely inappropriate to the occasion. Btw, Clinton makes an excellent and important point: Most of Bin Ladens victims were muslims. This probably can’t be repeated often enough in some quarters.
very good point Joseph.
Too, I wonder from reading Qu’ran and OT and NT… from Creator’s point of view, the religious affiliation may be less important than that one man decided to murder the souls so tenderly given life under Creator’s hand. In religious thought, this can mean the greatest offense is a purposeful strike against Creator’s loving Heart for the human beings under His aegis. Dont want to argue scriptures, which sometimes seem so pure in heartful thought, and sometimes overwritten by angry writers claiming to speak for God. Just that. The sacredness of human life that Osama definitely bypassed in his idea of himself being ‘a holy man. ‘ A man, yes. Holy, no.
Speaking of staying on topic.
