It might be shrewd to create an international effort to build and operate space junk collection vehicles to gather stuff and shoot it into the pacific ocean. Or collect it and sell it as memorabilia to underwrite the missions.
It’s been written about in sci-fi circles for quite a while. I doubt that it’s been factored into the cost models the government uses to estimate project cost, etc.

When comm sattelites start crashing into the junk and shut down we have a problem.
