Chavez was elected in elections. This is a Rightwing meme to discredit a Leftist populist. Latin America is tending Left, Iraq isn’t W’s only screwup. I believe Pinochet was a dictator after Kissinger and the CIA’s coup toppled an elected leader named Allende. Europe had their fling with nationalization and socialism, Latin Americas shifting back to the Left.
