Some extra attention to a few Centrist blogs.
(links do not necessarily reflect the opinion of anyone blogging at TMV)
The Gun Toting Liberal on – first – the federalization and – later – the privatization of law enforcement.
Michael J. Totten‘s second installment in a new series: Hezbollah’s Christian allies. Part one can be read here.
The Armed Liberal at Winds of Change on the Jamail Hussein-controversy revisited. Despite receiving criticism from some readers the last time I linked to a blogpost about the AP and Jamail Hussein, I decided to link to this post at Winds of Change nonetheless, because I believe that it is essential that ‘we’ get to the bottom of this. The AP must be held accountable for its reporting.

Captain Fogg at TMV co-blogger Michael J. Stickings’ blog The Reaction: “British travelers to the US will soon have another American style indignity to suffer; something I doubt that US citizens would tolerate from a foreign government. According to The Telegraph, their credit card records can be inspected and their e-mails read if they purchase airline tickets to the USA. Information released under the Freedom of Information Act reveals that even a traveler’s special food choices will be revealed which can be a clue as to their religious background.” This goes too far. If airlines don’t object, travelers should.
Patrick Belton at the Oxblog: fact-checking, what’s that?
P.S.
Center of Attention will run every day from now onward.
Obviously, the intention of it is to promote other Centrist blogs. There are a lot of high quality Centrist blogs out there.
I’m curious Michael – why did commenters criticize you for linking to a post on the AP issue?
Some objected to the person I linked to, they considered her to be too far to the right (Michelle) and / or said that the AP might have ‘invented’ the name, to keep his true identity secret and / or said that even if he doesn’t exist, it doesn’t make the reality of death and destruction in Iraq any less real.
Obviously, I disagree with the first two ‘arguments’ (second argument, see AP’s own ‘rules’ and defense), but can partially agree with the last one. That ‘argument’ however, doesn’t mean that it isn’t worth investigating.
When a news agency is fabricating stories and sources, it is a very serious breach of ethical behavior for journalists.
And this is not just ‘a’ news agency, it’s the AP.
That makes it even more serious.
