It was a busy weekend and I’d like to give people at the Moderate Voice a heads up on some of what we’ve been covering.
From Pakistan’s The Nation Newspaper, the editorial headlined Hillary Clinton Should Mind Her Own Media! attacks the secretary of state for criticizing Pakistan’s media coverage of the huge U.S. aid bill to that nation.
Then for Pakistan’s Pak Tribune in an article headlined, In Waziristan, Americans Must Now Stand Aside, columnist Anwaar Hussain advises Pakistan’s authorities, among other things, to do everything they can to keep the Americans out of the way while war is waged against militants in the Pakistani hinterlands.
Then we had additional Polish coverage of President Joe Biden’s fence-mending visit to East Europe. From Rzeczpospolita in a news item headlined Poland Agrees to Accept Modified U.S. Missile Shield, correspondents Piotr Gillert and Wojciech Lorenz present local coverage of Warsaw’s decision to quickly accept the Obama Administration’s new anti-missile shield proposal, which involves placing previously sea-based short- and medium-range missiles on land – in Poland.
From Russia’s Gazeta newspaper, columnist Semen Novoprudski in an article headlined Russia’s Elite Must Embrace New Era with U.S., warns his countrymen of the contradiction of resetting relations with the United States while continuing to treat it like an adversary.
And finally, in any article from France’s Liberation that many Americans will find condescending, headlined Release Roman Polanski for a ‘More Elevated’ Civilization, Laurent Joffrin informs in part that:
“Since the Roman Empire, a majority of civilized nations have considered that the passage of decades gradually eases the trouble provoked by the original act. While such forgetfulness seems unjust to the unforgiving; it is nevertheless a pillar of penal wisdom and the proper adjuvant of the administration of justice.”
