Let me begin by stating the obvious fact that we all feel for those who are unemployed and especially for those who have families. It’s a terrible economy right now and people are hurting.
Part of the current debates over the fiscal cliff include questions of continuing to extend current “emergency” unemployment benefits
Again I am certainly very empathetic to those in serious economic trouble but the question does pose itself….
So how long is it before we just cannot afford it anymore ?
3 years ? 4 ? 5 ?
I’m not trying to belittle what people are going through, as I said it’s a very tough situation to be in (indeed as a self-employed person I don’t qualify for unemployment so if my business shuts down I am on my own on day one)
But at what point do we have to draw a line ?
