Of course most of the ink (and electrons) being spilled today are over the recall of Governor Walker, a race that most experts expect him to win.
But there is another story that could be the silver lining for the left and the mantra in the post mortem analysis on Wednesday.
Four GOP state senators are also on the ballot and if just one loses the Democrats take control of the Wisconsin State Senate.
Senate seats in Districts 13, 21, 23 and 29 are on the ballot. Most observers expect the GOP to hold the seats in the 13th and 29th district but the other races could be in play. The District 23 seat between Democrat Kristen Dexter and Republican Terry Moulton leans to the Republican but is close.
It is the race in the 21st district between Republican Van Wanggaard and Democrat John Lehman is seen as a dead heat with some polls showing Lehman ahead. This one could tip the senate to the Democrats and give them something to console the likely loss in the top of the ticket race.
Of course a victory for either side would be short lived since there are senate seats up for voting in November, so we could see control flip yet again in November (assuming it flips in June).
So keep half an eye on those contests as returns come in.
