“It’s over.” Those were reportedly the words communicated to a reporter — signaling that part of Boston’s — and America’s — nearly week-long nightmare is over: the second suspect in the Boston Marathon terrorist bombing Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, was alive and in custody.

The sound of gunfire erupted in a Boston suburb Friday evening, less than an hour after police said residents could leave their homes even though the marathon bombing suspect was still on the run after an all-day, door-to-door search.
The barrage was heard in Watertown, Mass., which had been the center of a sprawling manhunt. Police and armored vehicles tore down a street and residents were immediately told to take shelter.
The shots rang out less than an hour after Massachusetts State Police Col. Timothy Alben told a press conference that fugitive Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, had probably not left the state but nevertheless lifted a lockdown order that had been in effect all day.
