NOTE TO READERS: We were informed this morning by a blogger that TMV was nominated for Best Blog in the Weblog Awards. We went to the link and — we were.
But it turns out it was A MISTAKE. We’ve been informed by Wizbang that TMV is in the Best Top 250 and that they published this site’s name in the WRONG category this morning.
Mistakes do happen (for instance we did not think for an instant that what was on the site could be wrong).
UPDATE II: Wizbang explains that there were some technical problems and this was NOT a matter of a typo. We do NOT hold this against them. But, as per our policy, TMV won’t be “campaigning” for votes or in any way badmouthing any site or any blogger to try and get them. We deeply appreciate anyone who voted for us in ANY category (unless it’s a category specifying where we should shove our computers.)
So (1) We REGRET giving you wrong information this morning and (2) We again THANK all readers who nominated us to the Top 250 category since we have not “campaigned” for votes and will not be doing so.
When the final list is up (and is confirmed), we’ll provide readers the link so they can vote for their favorites, even if that doesn’t include TMV.
This was our original post this morning:
We learned this morning (via an email from a weblog owner) that TMV has been nominated in the “Best Blog” category of the 2007 Weblog Awards. TMV did NOT campaign to be in any category (and yours truly has been driving thousands of miles and writing posts and had not put in any nominations at all).
All of us here thank readers for the honor of being on this list with so many great and popular blogs. The others nominated in this category:
# Michelle Malkin
# Huffington Post
# RawStory
# TechCrunch
# TownHall
# Andrew Sullivan
# Captain’s Quarters
# The Presurfer
# Gawker
# Boing Boing
# PostSecret
Thanks again to EVERYONE for honoring all of us who work hard at trying to offer you our best take on issues and a variety of posts on TMV.
We hope to continue to justify your kind thoughts and readership in the months and many years to come.
UPDATE: The voting will be for one week starting November 1:
ONCE AGAIN: TMV is NOT repeat NOT in that category and our name which was in that list has now been removed from it.
The Weblog Awards are the world’s largest blog competition, with over 525,000 votes cast in the 2006 edition for finalists in 45 categories. Nominations for 49 categories ended October 17, 2007 and voting is scheduled to begin November 1, 2007. Final results will be announced November 8, 2007 at the BlogWorld & New Media Expo in Las Vegas.
