It was delivered by Susan Brooks Thistlethwaite. Her take on Pfleger’s ill-chosen words can be found here.
Two reactions:
1. I now feel bad about chuckling when I watched Fr. Pfleger’s You-Tubed diatribe. Yet more evidence — as my wife frequently reminds me — that even at the age of 43, I still have some growing up to do.
2. I have to wonder why snippets of Thistlewaite’s sermon didn’t make the same splash as Pfleger’s? I know the answer, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. Even the open-minded Big Tent Democrat at Talk Left held up Pfleger’s remarks as indicative of a possible, systemic problem with Trinity, failing to miss — as did I, as did so many of us — that there was another sermon that day, at the same church, of a much different variety.
How sad and misinformed we all truly are.
