The split in the Democratic Party between those who want funding cut off ASAP and those who seek to rein-in or end the war in other ways clearly has the potential to spell “victory” — for the GOP in 2008 if it gets way out of hand.
Watch this You Tube of Appropriations Chairman Democrat David Obey trying to explain to military mom Tina Richards (the video shot by the anti-war group Occupation Project) what he’s doing, listen to the questions he gets. Different folks will pick their own “villain” and “hero/heroine” in this. But it’s clear: there is a potential, ugly split in the Democratic Party. (Obey has reportedly since apologized but again, each person will decide whether he should have or not).
