Mike Tedesco’s top five election take-aways:
1. It was really not that bad of a night for the Democrats. This is coming from a dyed in the wool Democrat. Maybe it is because after all the talk of tsunami’s I honestly expected to be sitting here at the end of the evening starting down a Republican majority in both the House and Senate. Instead we have a Republican House and a Democratic Senate meaning that if anything is going to get done in the next two years the credit will go to both parties. Of course, ultimately that means Obama wins.
2. Outspending your opponent does not always guarantee victory. Usually one can assume that outspending your opponent by millions will ensure victory. Fortunately for California and the country all the money in the world could not change the fact that the bad-ex-CEO duo of Carly Fiorina and Meg Whitman would have made equally bad elected officials.
3. Lawrence O’Donnell should not be forced to stay up late ever again. I truly enjoy O’Donnell’s insight and passion and his show is just great but he seemed to lose it several times during tonight’s MSNBC coverage of the election. Calm down Larry. I know it must be frustrating to have to sit in a room with Chris Matthews for 10 hours (I get the feeling he eats corned beef and cabbage during commercials then breaks wind between interviews) but you are on national t.v. buddy, buck up and deal with it.
4. Republicans are wussies. John Boehner getting all Glenn Beck weepy during his victory speech tonight just does not seem in keeping with the image the party of The Gipper has worked so hard to create.

5. Decorum is gone from politics. Sharon Angle does not even give a concession speech. Carl Paladino brings out a bright orange baseball bat during his concession speech then directs the following comments at Cuomo, “make no mistake, you have not heard the last of Carl Paladino.”
And lastly, Christine O’Donnell has the gall to make demands of Coons after losing to him by 17 points.
What ever happened to saying, “my opponent ran a good race and I congratulate him on his victory.” Is that really that hard?
Apparently, it is. I actually like to think that this is why that trio didn’t win. They are ill-mannered goons, all three of them. It’s a relief to know that the public hasn’t sunk that low.
Mike has the videos; go over and watch them. The one of Christine O’Donnell is jaw-dropping.
