I greatly encourage you all to check out the POMED Wire. The POMED Wire is the blog of the Project on Middle East Democracy. POMED “is dedicated to examining how genuine democracies can develop in the Middle East and how America can best support that process.”
To accomplish its goals “POMED will first foster dialogue on political reform and democracy between and among Americans and Middle Easterners.” Furthermore, the organization “will provide accurate and thorough research and analysis to legislators, policymakers and democratic development practitioners.” Lastly, “POMED will advocate for a consistent and credible pro-democracy foreign policy towards the Middle East.”
POMED publishes quite some fascinating articles about this topic. Read some of them. I received “Parting the Veil” by Shadi Hamid which I will read tomorrow morning: because of lack of time, I cannot read it today (I’m currently working on the second – and last – installment about the Sabbateans, I am reading nine essays about the future of the airforce and I am preparing a post about the American elections, which will be published tomorrow as well).
Anyway – as Joe likes to say: take a peek at POMED!
