Early this month I published a new comic novel, an e-book now featured on Amazon. The book chronicles strange doings under the streets of Manhattan in 1973 — doings that bring together a pollution-spawned new chain of life and a well-planned coup d’état.
Its main characters include a bumbling alternative newspaper reporter with rent problems who is unhappily partnered with a feisty, pistol-toting feminist photographer; and a mad militarist and his underground nemesis who has his finger on a big, bad button that can not only cause chaos in Gotham but environmental catastrophe worldwide. Also doing stints in this book’s pages are Langfart the Landlord, street maven Jimmy Bananas, the Cat Lady, the good Sergeant Withers and the bad Sergeant Starker, Mason the killer dwarf, and the Falstaffian editor of Hump, The Magazine of the Performing Arts.
I had a heck of a lot of fun writing this book. Readers seem to enjoy it as well. One reader reviewer, who gave it a five-star rating, called it “a very funny Sci-fi, Gothic horror,” and added: “Thumbs up for this uniquely funny novel. I’m still laughing when I think about it.” I think TMV visitors who’ve been following my posts here for several years would also find this a very enjoyable read.
