I must admit to being a bit surprised by the verdict.
However I also think we all need to step back for a moment and review.
On the race issue, even Trayvon’s grandmother said she did not think race was a factor here, so drop that.
On the other hand it’s pretty clear to me Zimmerman did overreact, he was told not to keep following Trayvon but did. More paranoia though than racism.
As to the verdict, I am not sure which way to think about the incident, I am not sure whether Trayvon did attack Zimmerman or if Zimmerman was in the wrong. However that amounts to reasonable doubt and thus I have to think the verdict was proper.
There are plenty of cases where someone was acquitted even though they were probably guilty. That is how the jury system works, you have to be sure, not pretty sure, they are guilty.
