Some Newtown Residents Would Rather Hug Their Assault Rifles Than Children

If you think that Newtown, Connecticut is the new Ground Zero for stricter gun law advocacy, think again.

Efforts by the police chief and other town leaders to try to gain some control over assault rifle gunfire and explosions at unlicensed rifle ranges and elsewhere, including a wooded area near an elementary school, are being met with resistance by assault weapon enthusiasts, while the National Shooting Sports Foundation, an advocacy group, has made the town where 20 children and seven adults perished at the hands of a gun nut at another elementary school, its home.

How about a well regulated militia guys. I know, we already have the National Guard in most states. but how about those among us that hate uniforms and marching in step and like guns. Well, I suggest a “well regulated militia” for the rest of us. There would be a requirement that you have to report for flood and other emergencies, but no marching. Since you like guns, you have to be trained for their safe operation before the firing range becomes available. Assuming you are over 18 and proficient in the safety aspect, you will “volunteer” to do guard duty at your local schools manning the metal detectors and monitoring the x-ray machine. An automatic iron gate will drop behind you to seal off the school entrance and an automatic call will go out to first responders, should it hear any gunshots, so you don’t need to carry any weapons. You see you will be on the front line, call it something exotic, say Maginot or something.
Should you not like volunteering for Maginot duty, then return your state registered weapons and permits and resign from the “well regulated militia”.
Next, read a book or start a stamp collection.

I apologize for this silly exercise and it is strictly tongue in cheek folks, this is so serious that it makes me crazy that little kids get killed and all we do is BS until the next “last straw”.

Didn’t you hear the man? “A gun didn’t kill all those children, a disturbed man killed all those children.” We can hear him but he can’t hear us. Buy stock in propane tank companies. Sounds like it’s gonna be a bang-up business.

I pity the poor sheriff in this county. These yo-yos are as wacky as those religious groups that start communes. Waco II coming up.

well done DD… tongue in cheek, yet still cuts to the heart of things.

“A gun didn’t kill all those children, a disturbed man killed all those children.”

I’m not a religious person, but all I can think is, Jesus wept.
