Inspired by Ron Beasley’s “non-politics” post and the beautiful, pileated woodpecker photo, here are a couple of photos I was going to use in my next Tidbits from Down Under installment.
For the one above, a monstrous Joey that looks as it has been thrown out of its mother’s pouch (and perhaps it was — we did not stick around long enough to see if it would be let “back in”), one could make all kinds of funny captions. For example, “It’s time to move out, buddy.”
One I read somewhere says, “Seriously, it’s time to start paying rent or move out of home.”
Joeys typically live in the pouch for about six to seven months, and as long as 10 months.
Below, the author’s wife holding a koala (not a “koala bear”) munching on eucalyptus leaves at the same wildlife preserve near Adelaide.
Holding a koala was one of the items on my wife’s bucket list.
