Terminally Ill Woman Brittany Maynard Has Ended Her Own Life.
Brittany Maynard, who became the public face of the controversial right-to-die movement over the last few weeks, ended her own life Saturday at her home in Portland, Oregon. She was 29.
If you don’t believe in it that’s fine but don’t try to force your mythology on others. I live in the Portland area and am witnessing the standard hysteria of the bible thumpers about interfering with gawd’s will, the Catholic Church is the worst and the local Bishop is a complete A$$. RIP and I support your decision Brittany!
When my late father was in the last days of his life his surgeon suggested that it was time to give up on “extraordinary means” to keep him alive since his future quality of life was near zero. My father’s primary care physician vehemently disagreed but we went with the advice of the surgeon and “pulled the plug.” When I wanted to put my late mother on a home hospice program the very same primary care physician resisted but I insisted that he approve it anyway and he tried to talk me out of it but eventually did it anyway. I have no way of knowing if his attitude was religiously motivated or just some sort of bizarre interpretation of the Hippocratic Oath but in both cases it was wrong.
I would like to hear from Dr. Ron Chusid on this subject.
