Middle Earth Journal’s Jazz linked to the post I published earlier today about Thanksgiving. In his own post, he takes the time to reflect on his life and what he is grateful for.
I am grateful to live in a country where we were able to vote out an inefficient and flawed majority in Congress, giving us at least some hope that their replacements will do somewhat better for us.
I am grateful to live in a country where I can still (at least for now) keep an eye on the new Congressional leaders, speak my mind, and hold them accountable if they stray from the path again.

I am grateful for all of my friends who add so much spice and meaning to my life.I am grateful for my family members, though we each may have our own flaws, for providing the framework on which I built my life.
I am grateful for the roughly half a century of life I’ve had on this earth and, in advance, I shall be grateful for however many more days I have to spend here, be they few or many.

I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving, and hope that you will take a few moments to reflect on the things in your life for which you are grateful also.
I second that, of course. Drop your thoughts, your ‘reflections’ in the comment section of this post.
In the Netherlands we do not celebrate Thanksgiving. That being said, I greatly respect your custom and understand the value of it. Sometimes we are so busy looking at the future, at what we want (to achieve) that we forget what we already have.
So, I am grateful for:
* the love and support of my parents who are celebrating their 26th year of marriage. Without their constant support I would not be where and who I am now
* I am grateful for the love and presence of God in my life. He has blessed and continues to bless me.
* I am grateful for (the love of) my girlfriend. Words cannot express what I feel for you. You bring happiness into my life on a scale I never expected or anticipated. You are my joy.
* I am grateful for having great friends who put up with my busy agenda.
* I am grateful for being able to blog at a great blog like The Moderate Voice. I owe Joe a lot for inviting me and for helping me to improve my skills. I also want to thank all commenters here: you all make up for a wonderful bunch.
* making the right decision regarding my study. AS is more interesting than I ever imagined. It was a gamble, but luckily I won the jackpot.
* I am thankful for having a great sister and brother in law. Fré, we fight but I would die for you and your daughter.
UPDATE
* I am also grateful for Holly: she is not just one of my co-bloggers at TMV, but also my personal “editor and proofreader”.
While I’m at it, I also want to thank my good friend Alexandra von Maltzan from All Things Beautiful. We do not talk a lot anymore the last few months for which solely I am to blame (busy, busy, busy), but you supported me very strongly and actively when I first started blogging and you continue to be my best Internet buddy. Strictly between you and me: I miss you.
