With all the debate on both sides regarding the lame duck session and what the Democrats are wanting to pass and the Republicans saying that they want to focus on a couple priorities, a thought occurred to me.
While obviously we disagree from time to time on issues I hold out the hope that the more liberal members of this site (both bloggers and readers) still hold some degree of respect and/or affection for me so I offer this question to them in genuine sincerity.
Let us assume that this was December 2006 not 2010.
And further assume the GOP decided to hold a lame duck session where they pushed to pass bills that reflected their own political attitudes (IE conservative counterparts to things like the Dream Act).
How would you react to a House that had just lost the election trying to pass an agenda that voters had seemingly rejected in the last election ?
Now just to save time I’m not saying that all the Democrats are trying to pass is partisan, but the fact does remain that even on things like tax cuts they want the GOP to simply pass the portions of the cuts that the Democrats like. They (Democrats) seemingly won’t even discuss a temporary compromise on short term extension of the over 250k cuts.
Wouldn’t you be upset if the lame ducks were trying to do that ?
