I think that Montana Governor (and Democratic rising star) Brian Schweitzer has an interesting idea for an energy plan, but I’m even more impressed that he was willing to put it up on one of the most highly trafficked Democratic blogs for commentary.
Schweitzer doesn’t get nearly enough attention–but he’s a popular Democratic governor in a paradigmatic red state, an impressive feat in of itself. He’s a plain-speaking populist, and he excels at turning issues that the right has dominated in rural areas for decades (like land use and the environment) into progressive rallying points. National Democrats should take a page from his book–whenever I see him, I get more and more impressed.
