Random Pre-Debate Thoughts That Might Be On Topic…

Since Governor Sarah Palin has blasted on the scene, I’ve been wondering how she would have done if she were running in the Republican primary. She would have stuck out like a sore big toe among that super-dull crowd of McCain, Thompson, Giuliani, Romney, and others (well Mike Huckabee was not that dull). Can you imagine the “Sarahcuda” on the debate stage hurling zingers at those good ol’ boys? And could she really have won the Republican Party nomination?

And speaking of debates, why have all these rules? Why not throw McCain, Obama, Palin, and Biden in the debate ring together unfiltered? Just let them sling diamonds and mud at each other and see who’s left standing. Why do we get all stodgy in these debates when we’re a country of constant entertainment and excitement?

Just some things to think about before the big bad debate between Senator John “Palin Said Knock You Out” McCain and Senator Barack “Cool As The Other Side Of The Pillow” Obama.

    Hah! Could you imagine McCain being introduced at a rally with LL Cool J blaring on the loudspeakers? Priceless...

    I have absolutely no idea how Palin would have done in the primaries. She definitely would have stuck out. But could she have participated successfully in the huge numbers of primaries the Republicans held being attacked by all the other candidates if she had gotten a polling lead? No idea.

This was former revolutionary terrorist Bill Ayers back in his old Weather Underground days, right? Imagine what Sarah Palin is going to do with this incendiary quote as she tears into Barack Obama this week. ONLY ONE PROBLEM. The quote is from Joe Vogler, the raging anti-American who founded the Alaska Independence Party. Inconveniently for Palin, that's the very same secessionist party that her husband, Todd, belonged to for seven years and that she sent a shout-out to as Alaska governor earlier this year. ("Keep up the good work," Palin told AIP members. "And God bless you.")

    McCain Camp cannot talk about the economy because their Economics is for the Rich, the well-off and the well connected!

    T-Steel, interesting question... how Aplin would have done in teh GOP primaries.

    I think she would have failed. We saw how the seasoned pros went at each otehr, including McCain and Romney. Palin would not have been able to withstand that mudslinging (with the scandals in her closet). She would have been raked over the coals for her support of the earmarks (and that bridge), her husband's connection to the AIP, her increase of government spending as governor of Alaska and finally her raising taxes on oil companies. The other candidates would have said that she raised taxes on oil companies to give money to the citizens, who do not pay state income tax anyway, and that raising taxes on oil companies only forces those oil companies to pass the costs to the rest of the US. They may also have skewered her on the pipeline to Canada and helping Canada create jobs (not the lower 48). Oh, and I guess they really would have laid into her over IRaq since the GOP is big on foreign policy and a year ago everyone was talking about the success (or not) of the surge... a topic she doesn't appear to have given much thought to until recently.

    It actually would have been very illuminating to see how her fellowo GOP opponents would have treated her in the primaries.

    I'll tell you one thing.. if she had gotten in the race before Fred Thompson, he never would have ran because she would have been the fresh face everyone was expecting from Fred. If Sarah and Fred had gotten in at the saem time he would have dropped out after a week...

    LL would definitely not let that go without some "cheddar" comin' his way- which I doubt would considering McCain has not yet offered any to artists for stealing their music like a Napster...

    The first debate would have been a flirt-fest. But by round two she'd be out like Elisabeth Hasselbeck on Survivor.
