Holly in Cincinnati has joined this site as what was formerly called a “guest blogger” but we now consider a “co-blogger.”
In reality, Holly was one of the first people asked about guest blogging. And the reason why is perhaps something others may want to emulate.
Holly would catch our typos. She might occasionally mention it in comments, but more often than not she’d send an email with the subject TYPO ALERT! and we’d fix it immediately. (Some folks see a typo and use it to launch a very angry or sarcastic rant when a simple email would do).
She also began send us links as tips for posts. GREAT links and diverse links. She sends them to us before they appear on Drudge or other sites. I emailed her and have said here in comments that her news judgment is as good as (or better) than the editors I worked with on newspapers.
And then there was the fact that she was independent. She made it clear that she has a definite perspective on political and social issues but she isn’t lockstep on issues. She thinks them out.
Earlier this week we noted about your absolutely hellish schedule in trying to do everything, not just this weblog. So she sent an email taking us up on an offer made nearly a year ago.
Like other co-bloggers, we let them do their thing because no one who contributes here rewrites rightwing or leftwing recycled talking head show talking points (and there is nothing wrong with that, by the way, but we do our own thing here).
Over the past year she began blogging at Julien’s List. She will likely link to some of her posts there, as well as do some originals here. She’ll probably get more breaking news on this site — and make sure our typos are fixed immediately.
