I think I’ve got the Democratic non-response figured out on Miers. As y’all know, Republicans are far, far more divided on the Supreme Court nominee than are Democrats. That’s not to say that Democrats have agreed on a cohesive position. But Republicans are currently at each other’s throats, in a type of intra-party bloodbath we haven’t seen from the GOP in ages. Democrats, of course, have one of these weekly. And that’s the reason Democrats are keeping quiet. They are just reveling in watching it be, for once, the Right mauling itself. And they don’t want to do anything to spoil it.
And oh man, does it feel good.
In a tangentially related point, Michelle Adams thinks the Democratic party needs to debate with itself more. I’m…skeptical, to say the least (expect a post at The Debate Link dealing with this in more depth), but it’s an interesting argument.
