With the White House launching the U.S. military into its first big offensive in Afghanistan since President Obama took office, this angry and sarcastic article from Iran’s state-controlled Kayhan newspaper cannot be good news.
Writing for Kayhan, Kian Mokhtari writes in part:
“On Saturday, Obama rather swiftly brushed off a call by President Ahmadinejad for an apology for Washington’s ‘meddling in Iran’s internal affairs. ‘Obama replied ‘I don’t take Mr. Ahmadinejad’s statements about apologies seriously.’
“That is just as well, because Iran never took Western requests for it to help interfere in domestic ‘difficulties’ in Afghanistan or Iraq, which were triggered by the illegal U.S.-led invasions of both countries, seriously either. As far as Iran is concerned, the U.S.-led coalition in both countries can go the same route as other foreign invaders and occupiers. The very best of luck to you, boys and girls!”

USA TODAY reported last Friday [June 26] that President Barack Obama is re-branding a Bush-era plan to fund anti-Iran elements through domestic and foreign entities.
The Obama White House hasn’t only refused to act on the former administration’s decision to allocate $66 million to so-called Iranian dissidents, it has devised a new approach and has demanded an additional $15 million.
These Mickey Mouse dollars are to be pumped into a plan called the Near Eastern Regional Democracy Initiative. And oh, according to David Carle, a spokesman for the Senate Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations, some of that money will – surprisingly enough – be targeted at Iran. Gather ye rosebuds while ye may; that’s not all!
